Mikhail Khodorkovsky thanks everyone who has written to him and those who sent words of support as half his sentence expired.

Throughout my four years in prison I have received your letters. I try to answer as many as I can. Trapped here, getting letters, reading them and writing answers becomes a real need. If someone responds to you it is easier to put up with any restrictions, even prison. I was particularly moved by the letters you sent to mark the fourth “anniversary” of my arrest. Assessing that event through the contents of the letters I’ve received ever since shows that all is not in vain.

Without your support things would be immeasurably tougher.
